The Mission of Grace
Our mission is to bring the good news of God’s saving grace through Jesus Christ’s death and resurrection to all to be free to be people of God...
- Grace that has played a significant role in the lives of our forefathers, foremothers and countless others known only to history.
- Grace that shapes, molds and redeems our lives today.
- Grace that will profoundly touch the lives of our children, grandchildren and others in our community and around the world, many of whom we will never know, for years to come.
We welcome all people regardless of age, sex, color, ethnic background, physical or emotional health, disability, economic status, or sexual orientation into our worshipping and serving community.
As a congregation with two expressions, we hold services weekly in English and Spanish.

Outreach for Mission
- Grace’s Spanish ministry, La Voz de la Esperanza, was established in 2000 to serve the Spanish-speaking community. We welcome anyone to worship with us, regardless of their country of origin or legal status.
- Grace has an active companion congregation relationship with Msindo Parish in the Pare Mountains of Tanzania. Mission teams visiting Msindo have helped establish a community grain-milling operation and a dairy herd through Heifer International. We welcome visitors from Tanzania to Des Moines about every three years.
- In 2002, we dedicated a $3 million renovation and expansion that features a gathering space, a large fellowship hall, a 125-seat chapel called Esperanza chapel, a prayer chapel and columbarium, a daycare center, and handicap accessibility. We routinely make our facilities available for use by community groups and organizations, including Boy Scouts, Liberian Association of Iowa, Mosaic, and Three Legacies Group, the largest Alcoholics Anonymous group meeting in the state serving some 250 people.
